• RE: Series 2200 - USBTMC Error - Device not found

    Hello Jacob,

Good to know. I have already looked at all devices to see if there was an icon indicating an error or any unidentified COM device. I also confirmed what all connected COM devices through USBview (Bluetooth module and peripherals) prior to making this post.

As mentioned, the Device Manager does not update when I plug the USB connected to the power supply. Whenever I connect any other device Windows detects the hardware and the device manager refreshes the list. In the case of this power supply, it does not happen.

I presume that means a repair. I will see if it is worthwhile or maybe I'll open it up and see if I can see any data on the lines after the socket.

    Regards,

    -Greg

    Hello Andrea,

I thought about that too before coming to the forum.

When using any other device, Windows device manager refreshes the screen when a device is plugged in (miscategorized or not). In the case of this unit, the windows is not refreshed. I just double checked some pull-down sections (Ports, USB, the hidden USBTMC, and so on) but couldn't find a device named Keithley.

    Thanks for the suggestion!

    Hi Andrea,

Update was successful. But you are correct. It seems the USBTMC is a larger issues that needs a firmware update. I'll have to see what we want to do.

    Thanks,

I've been looking at this and came up with a possible solution. Could you please indicate whether this process is acceptable.

As no USB is detectable I was planning on the following.

    1. Remove RS232 shield from back of device.

    2. Connect serial to PC. (I'm using a usb to serial converter cable)

    3. From OFF, press and hold shift and power button.

    4. From upgrade software, menu press enter to upgrade mainframe.

    5. Run update.exe and upload V1.28 to Keithley power supply

Reason I believe this is the correct path. Link attached and when I downloaded the firmware package and unpacked, it resulted in 4 files under the 2200-CPU-V1.28. Running the update.exe shows a pull-down menu with a title RS232 Port.

    Is this a good path?

  • Series 2200 - USBTMC Error - Device not found

    Hello,

I have Windows 10, NI VISA 19.0, and Keithley 2200-60-2. But this power supply is not visible in NI MAX nor is it visible in Device Manager or Windows's USBview.exe. I need help in getting it to be recognized by the computer.

The DC power supply is setup for USBTMC (front panel menu (shift 1)> system>communication>USBTMC+enter). I have plugged in a USB type A(PC) to USB type B (power supply). I have confirmed the cable works with other devices. I have communicated via USBTMC with DAQ6510 and with a non-USBTMC device.

I would update firmware first but lack ability as the device is not shown anywhere.

    Device information:
    Model: 2200-60-2
    Ver: 1.26-1.23
    SN: 9080005

    Thanks,
    -Greg
